SUMMARY: APCO China, a leading international public affairs consultancy, is seeking to hire a Senior Associate Director for its strategic communication team in Shanghai. The position demands versatility and strong experience in a variety of industries, while mastering the skills and techniques of the public affairs field. As an Associate Director, the incumbent will be a team leader involved with day–to–day management of client projects by supervising project teams and junior staff, and assisting with the company’s business development and marketing. The incumbent will be responsible for developing communication plans, managing client relationships and day-to-day service deliverables. In addition, the incumbent will show demonstrated strategic planning and management abilities, and have good written and oral communication skills. He or she will interface with all levels of staff and clients regarding projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Handle strategic planning and program development for clients
• Manage client expectation and handle day-to-day reporting
• Establish project timelines and ensure that deadlines are met
• Develop and manage budgets
• Manage communications strategies and maintain other key stakeholder relationships
• Work with team members to resolve issues when they occur
• Provide leadership and coach team members as necessary for successful projects completion
• Grow new business from existing clients, and identify new business opportunities
• Support billing process, review prebills and timely complete entry of timesheets
• Maintain 90% billability
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Master’s degree or higher in related field required (overseas education would be asset)
• 7-10 years relevant experience, preferably in communications industry, media and international working environment
• Sector specific knowledge and experience in health/pharmaceutical, B2B, or fast moving consumer goods will be an asset
• Strong time management skills with ability to multi-task
• Excellent written and oral skills (both English and Chinese)
• Demonstrated tactical abilities
• Self-motivated with professional demeanor
• Mentoring, coaching skills for staff management
• the position is open to locals and non-locals who are currently residing and working in Shanghai.
